Matthew Sweet, the king of compilations and soundtracks, has a covertune on YET ANOTHER soundtrack: Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Magnet & Steel. It's rather catchy :-). SusannahHoffs and Lindsey Buckingham provide spectacular backup.
Matthew also recorded a song for the Big Star tribute album, Big Star/LittleAlbum, another cover. Unfortunately, that album is in limbo, and thereis no release date. Fortunately, you can check it out here - > Ballad of El Goodo. It's slower and groovier than theoriginal (or so I've heard :-).
For those of you who don't follow the Matthew Sweet mailing list (Forshame!), here's a summary of my recent activity concerning the MS Fan Club.I compiled a list of names and addresses and sent them to Lee Lieberman(who I've learned is THE contact, for info, merchandise, etc.). Lee promisedme he would check these names against the Fan Club member database, andmake sure everyone was there who wanted to be a member. I also sent outa hard copy of the updated merchandise list to those who sent me there information. So, if you want your name checked against the database and a copy of theupdated merchandise list, I'd be happy to oblige you if you just Email me with your information (name and address).
